Our Goal
Our goal was to design a unique sanctuary for a busy family of three. The clients emphasized their desire for a home that stands out, expressing the sentiment, “Don’t make a house look like any other house.” With this in mind, we integrated self-contained guest accommodation and a teenage retreat that promotes independence while allowing parental supervision. A key aspect of our project planning was to build a home that offers value without overcapitalizing its location.
Design Highlights
Our design approach is contemporary, featuring an external form and materiality that is both modern and adaptive, transcending time and context. The ground floor serves as a self-sufficient unit with the main living areas, including the kitchen, dining room, multifunction room, in-laws suite, and master suite with a separate side entry. This thoughtful arrangement ensures that the parents can enjoy their living spaces without the need to use stairs.
The upper floor houses the teenage retreat, additional bedrooms, and a sunroom facing the backyard, perfect for tranquil evenings. The design also emphasizes natural light, with living spaces opening into a north-facing courtyard. The main bedroom suite, located at the front, allows for easy street supervision, ensuring a blend of privacy and connectivity with the neighborhood.
